Documents required - Alterations/tuning

In order to prove that a part is original to the vehicle, i.e. that it was fitted at the time the vehicle was delivered, you must have one or more of the following documents:

A certificate from the manufacturer or its authorised representative

This certificate must state that the part is original to the vehicle and also state the chassis number for the vehicle.

A catalogue (of the make of vehicle) showing the part

The purchase invoice for the vehicle, provided by an official distributor for the make of vehicle, stating the parts added

An instruction manual mentioning the part

For the following items, a validation report must be requested from the approval department at the Federal Public Service Mobility and Transport.

Safety cage for the cabin (will also require the assembly plan from the manufacturer).

If the suspension is lowered, two documents are required:

The assembly certificate

The approval report

For alterations made specifically to vehicles for individuals with reduced mobility, please bring the approval certificate for the adaptation, completed and issued by the installer, or the completed European certificate of conformity, for an alteration installed after 31/08/2014.

Vehicles intended for racing must have an ‘additional certificate for racing vehicles’, issued by one of the following competent federations:

CSN (Commission Sportive Nationale),

ASAF (Association Sportive Automobile Francophone)

VAS (Vlaamse Autosport Federatie)

A certificate issued by one of the latter two federations must also be countersigned by the CSN. Important: certificates have limited validity.
