Conditions
Category B
- Must have held a Belgian or European driving licence valid for category B for at least 8 years.
Category B+E/C1/C/C1+E/C+E
- Must be at least 24 years old
- Must have held a Belgian or European driving licence valid for the category of the test for at least 6 years
Catégorie D1 - D - D1+E - D+E
- Must be at least 27 years old
- Must have held a Belgian or European driving licence valid for the category of the test for at least 6 years
Except for the same candidate, not to have been mentioned as a private instructor on another provisional driving licence during the year prior to the date on which the provisional driving licence was issued. However, this does not apply:
With regard to the person’s own children or those of his/her spouse;
If the private instructor and the candidate are registered with the National Office of Social Security as staff members of the same company that provides driver training for its employees;
If the private instructor and the candidate work together for a fire service.
(This rule does not apply for an 18-month provisional driving licence.)
They must be registered in Belgium and hold an identity document issued in Belgium.
They must not be disqualified from driving (currently or within the past 3 years) and, where applicable, must have passed any tested ordered by the court.
Drivers who are allowed only to drive a vehicle specially adapted for their disability may not act as a private instructor while a person is learning to drive.
