OBFCM
• What is OBFCM?
OBFCM is a regulation (Implementing Regulation 2021/392) imposed on member countries of the European Union (in particular via technical inspection bodies) that consists in anonymously collecting vehicle consumption data via the OBD socket. This information, sent to the European Commission once a year, will be use, to establish a link with CO2 emissions and to compare these actual emissions with those announced by manufacturers in order to prevent new cases of fraud.
• Which vehicles are concerned?
The vehicles concerned by this data collection are M1 and N1 vehicles (cars and vans) released since 01/01/2021.
Full electric vehicles or vehicles whose fuel is not diesel, petrol or bio-ethanol are not concerned (vehicles running on LPG or CNG are not concerned).
• Which data are collected?
Data collected via the electronic interface of the vehicle are:
- Chassis number (VIN)
- Mileage – the overall mileage but also the mileage driven in the different propulsion modes
- The real fuel consumption in the different propulsion modes
• How is data managed?
The data is reported annually to the authority who forwards it to the European Commission. Data are then deleted.
No personal information about the vehicle owner is considered during this process.
